As of July 1st, Melissa is the Acting Director of the UBC Sustainability Hub! Melissa has been funded by NSERC for work in Kelowna and
other Okanagan cities - predicted to be some of the hottest in Canada into the future; “Increased Urban Heating and Thermal Comfort in
Canadian Cities as a Model for Advancing Urban Ecosystem Service Assessments”.
Melissa continues her work with colleagues on a recent NSF funded project to study bus stops in Denver “Modeling extreme heat at
transit stops and its implications for equity”. They have been conducting field work in Denver and Fort Collins this past summer.
